113. How to Overcome Your Time Management Mistakes
Thursday Feb 24, 2022
Thursday Feb 24, 2022
When you have a schedule that has every inch of time filled in a day, you can feel overwhelmed and lost with how to accomplish all of your to-dos.
Obviously none of us are perfect when it comes to time management but it’s important that we are able to recognize our mistakes so that’s what we are going to focus on in this episode! When it comes down to it, a lot of our “time management mistakes” are due to good habits not sticking or bad habits forming.
In Atomic Habits, James Clear outlines 4 ways to make a habit stick… make it obvious, make it attractive, make it easy, and make it satisfying. If the habit is failing, this means we are doing the opposite. So in this episode, we are going to focus on those mistakes but give specific examples for time management and how you can make changes to overcome them.
In this episode we share:
Make your daily schedule and appointments part of your environment.
Pair a desirable task with a task that is less desirable.
Humans follow the Law of Least Effort. Find ways to make your habit easy.

Thursday Feb 17, 2022
Thursday Feb 17, 2022
Over the last two years we have shared a lot of tips, tricks and hacks related to time management… and they are all great! But, we need to have a specific plan for implementing them in our lives so we can be consistent.
We are going to take some of our best tips and hacks and turn them into habits that you can build on a daily basis in order to improve your time management. In Atomic Habits, James Clear states that a habit needs to contain an action, time, and location so you have a clear understanding of the implementation intention.
We are going to share 6 habits in the form of a fill-in-the-blank: “I will (action) at (time) in (location)”. We are giving you the action and you decide the time and location that fits your personality, schedule, and individual life
In this episode we share the following 6 habits YOU need to build:
I will create a power list at (time) in (location)
I will complete the most difficult task from my power list at (time) in (location)
I will turn my phone on do not disturb at (time) in (location)
I will prepare my lessons for the next day at (time) in (location)

111. How to Become THAT Teacher: Time Management Edition
Thursday Feb 10, 2022
Thursday Feb 10, 2022
It’s amazing how large of a role your mindset can play when building new habits. When we say things about our identity both positively or negatively it can hinder who we are trying to become. As the saying goes… if we say it often enough, we start to believe it.
Recently, there has been a trend going around on TikTok about being “THAT Girl”. It eludes that this is someone who has their life together. She wakes up and meditates on a yoga mat facing the sun and makes her bed. She is THAT girl that everyone wants to be.
While we know this is not TikTok, we recognize that as teachers, we all know that one teacher in our buildings that we all see as THAT teacher. She has her lessons planned far in advance. She leaves right at the end of her contract hours and never seems to be frazzled or overwhelmed.
This episode is not about being perfect… we believe that there is no such thing as perfect. But it is all about making changes in order to take on a new identity and feel more like THAT teacher.
In this episode we share:
Mindset shift 1: Instead of saying “I don’t have enough time” say “I always have enough time for my priorities”
Mindset shift 2: Instead of saying “It’s faster/better if I just do it myself” say “I can ask for help when needed”
Mindset shift 3: Instead of saying “This will just take a minute” say “I can find time to do this later”
